Below are examples of the kind of activities expeditions can
undertake - there are many others to choose from including scuba diving,
deep-sea fishing and mountain biking.
Mount Kinabalu:
This is the
highest peak in South East Asia standing at
4101m (13500ft).
You will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the Kinabalu National Park entrance. From there it's a
steady plod all day to the overnight mountain hut
at about 10,000 ft .
No meals will be provided on Kinabalu but there is a cafe
at the mountain hut that serves hot meals and refreshments.
You will be stopping in a dormitory style hut in bunk beds.
An early Alpine start at about 2am you should get to the
summit for first light (make sure you have a head torch with you), the route is
very steep and quite slippery in places.
Some fixed ropes have been installed at the steepest parts.
After reaching the summit and loads of picture
opportunities it's back down to the huts for a bit of refreshment and then all
the way down to the park gates again and back to KK.
On Mount Kinabalu
Please note if you get to the mountain huts and it is raining
or poor weather when you are leaving for the summit or the local guide thinks it
is unsafe to carry on you will not be permitted to go for the summit.
The local park guides and rangers have the final say, as
always, safety is paramount.

Primary Jungle Trek:
We will set out from the CPL early on a three day jungle trek.
The trek will involve primary jungle walking and we will be
sleeping in either your own hammocks or tents can be provided as long as I have
enough notice before hand.
I would recommend bringing along your own hammock.
You will be carrying everything with you in your rucksack, so
please keep it to the minimum.
We can store some things in the hotel that you won't need for the trek.
Tambuyukon:
This is a very
challenging trek to the 3rd highest mountain in
Malaysia, standing at
2580m (8,462ft).
The trek involves walking through primary jungle, where
access is strictly controlled. The trek takes 4 days and is very arduous.
The terrain is sometimes very steep and difficult; the
summit day is a fine scramble up rock and tree roots.

On Tambuyukon
You will have to carry everything up the mountain in your
rucksack, so please keep it as light as possible, you will be accompanied by an
official park ranger, a trekking guide and cooks.
You can leave your big rucksacks at camp 2 on the summit
day, so something to hold water bottles may be useful, for example a small
karabiner on your bottle or a waist pack or Camelback type system. Summit day is
a pre-dawn start for a more rewarding experience.
Day 1 and 2 only involves about 3km of walking, and the summit day about 6km.
Mountain Bike Trekking:
Day 1: from Kuang village to Tambatuan, carrying on to Melankap for the
first overnight.
Day 2. from Melankap off road to where we camp
at Nehapa village
Day 3. off road to Rampayan, proceeding through
many villages to Kota Beld.finally transferring back to KK.
Each day is abut 70km which usually takes about
6-7 hours.
All equipment will be provided and your overnight equipment will be transported
ahead of you each day. All that you will need to carry with you will be drinking
water, snack bars and a personal first aid kit. Some of the track is a off road
where you may have to carry your bike.
Rock Climbing:Transferred from
Hotel by minibus to an old quarry outside Kota Kinabalu.
Very nice spot with water falls and loads of vegetation.
All routes will be top roped.
Climbing for about 3 1/2 hours at your own pace and
ability.
Some easy routes and some not so easy.
Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.

Trusmadi:
Located in the district of Tambunan and about 20km away to
the east of the district on the Trusmadi range, Mt.
Trusmadi at its height of
2640m (8,660ft), is
the second highest mountain in
Malaysia.
The expedition is a 3 day 2 night trip that is involves steep
slopes, exposed routes and is slippery in places, especially when wet.
Most of day 2 will be spent scrambling up through tree
roots.
You will be sleeping in an old wooden hut the first night
and a tent on the second night.

Trusmadi Summit
A day sack will be much more practical to take rather than
a large expedition pack, especially when scrambling through the tree roots.
Probably best to take a small roll mat or self-inflating
mattress as the ground is very uneven and hard on the second night.
A small sleeping bag would be a good idea as well because
it can get rather cold on the mountain no matter how warm it is at sea level.
The catering will be very basic because of the location of
the mountain; a handful of snack bars in your rucksack would be worth while.
Crocker Range Salt Route Walk:
The Crocker Range, the longest mountain chain in Sabah, stretches from Sorinsim, in the states northern
district of Penampang, south to Maligan, in the Tenom district. Rising to an
average height of about 5,000ft, it effectively seperates
Sabahs west coast from the interior villages.
The Salt Track was a trail originally created by the
natives of Sabah's interior who, for one hundred years, used it to carry their
jungle products across the Crocker
Range to the coastal
Penampang villages. The one most frequently used, linking Tikolod in Tambunan to
Inobong in Penampang that is now known as the Crocker Range Salt Route.
The 45km route usually takes 5 days and 4 nights, passing through primary jungle
and crossing many rivers, we are going to attempt to do it in 4 days 3 nights,
so be warned we may have to have a few early starts.
White Water Rafting:
We will be picked up from our hotel and taken to the train
station where we will be squeezed into a hot old train and transported to the
riverhead for a great day out.
After a short safety brief we all jump into a raft and head
on down stream, after fighting the current for about 12 miles we have a spot of
lunch and head back to KK on the train.
The coach will meet us again at the station and drop us off
at the Hotel, then a quick shower and all off to a nice restaurant and have a
meal and a few drinks to finish the expedition off in style.
